The opposition Gogot Party (Gogot for Gurage Unity and Justice Party) has strongly accused ruling party officials of committing widespread and "strategic" electoral law violations across the two Gurage zones.

In an official statement, the party revealed that ruling party cadres and administrators are engaging in various illegal acts, ranging from harassing the families of opposition candidates to systematically dismissing government employees who support the Gogot Party from public offices.

According to the opposition party’s briefing, the ruling party is extensively utilizing state-owned vehicles for its official political campaigns. Furthermore, the party detailed serious infractions, including mobilizing independent court judges for party campaigning and deploying cadres to collect citizens' voter cards through door-to-door operations.

The Gogot Party stated that these actions completely undermine ongoing efforts to build a free, fair, and democratic electoral system.

Consequently, the Gogot Party has urgently called upon the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) to immediately investigate the concrete evidence presented and take swift legal and corrective measures.

The party concluded with a stern warning, stating that if the ruling party's "illegal obstructionist activities" are not immediately corrected and resolved, it will be forced to completely withdraw and boycott itself from the upcoming election process.
