Prosperity Party Secures Landslide Victory in the 7th General Election

The ruling Prosperity Party has secured a sweeping victory in the country’s seventh general election, winning the vast majority of parliamenta ruling ry seats and ensuring another five-year term in office, the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) announced.

​Tesfaye Neway, the deputy chairperson of the NEBE, confirmed that the historic polls were successfully conducted across 1,139 electoral districts nationwide. The high-stakes election determined the representation for 501 seats in the House of Peoples' Representatives, the lower house of the federal parliament, as well as 638 seats in various regional councils.

​According to the official verified results released by the electoral board, the Prosperity Party captured 438 of the 501 available seats in the federal parliament. This decisive majority grants the ruling party the constitutional mandate to form the next government and direct East Africa's second-most populous nation through the next five years.

​"The electoral process represents a significant step in the nation's political landscape," Tesfaye stated, noting the logistical scale of managing more than a thousand constituencies. The remaining parliamentary seats were distributed among various opposition parties and independent candidates who participated in the race.

​With this renewed five-year mandate, the Prosperity Party, led by its central administration, will continue to oversee Ethiopia's complex socio-economic reforms, infrastructure developments, and foreign policy.

​Electoral officials extended their gratitude to the millions of citizens who cast their ballots, as well as local security forces and electoral personnel who facilitated the voting process. Observers note that maintaining stability and addressing regional economic challenges will remain top priorities for the incoming administration as it prepares to take office.
