Zemen Bank, one of Ethiopia’s pioneering private financial institutions, has announced stellar financial results for the concluded fiscal year, underscoring its robust operational performance and burgeoning market influence. The figures were disclosed during the bank's annual executive management convention held between 17 and 18 July 2026.

The institution posted a pre-tax profit surpassing 10.2 billion Birr, reinforcing its lucrative trajectory and competitive edge. Concurrently, the bank's total asset footprint expanded dramatically to reach 116 billion Birr.

Detailing the breakdown, Mr Asrat Tadesse—Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Retail Banking Officer—highlighted key capital milestones:

Paid-up Capital transcended 14 billion Birr. Gross Revenue reached an impressive 17.8 billion Birr. Total Capital stood at 26 billion Birr.

These indicators demonstrate that the bank has fortified its balance sheet, insulating itself against potential macroeconomic volatility whilst laying a resilient foundation for future expansion.

Customer deposits witnessed a substantial year-on-year surge of 32 per cent, topping 85.4 billion Birr. This steep influx of capital reflects heightened public trust and provided the momentum required to scale up credit facilities across key economic sectors, bringing total advances to 52.59 billion Birr.

Furthermore, despite broader systemic foreign currency constraints, Zemen Bank successfully secured 698 million US dollars in foreign exchange, supplying critical support to international trade, importers, and exporters.

Beyond commercial achievements, the bank actively advanced its corporate social responsibility agenda throughout the financial year:

Educational Outreach: Implemented financial literacy workshops within schools to foster early fiscal responsibility.

Fraud Prevention: Rolled out public awareness campaigns aimed at safeguarding citizens against financial scams and fraudulent schemes.

In sum, Zemen Bank’s performance for the 2025/2026 financial period represents a landmark triumph in profitability, capital accumulation, and asset growth. The bank’s impressive liquidity position and community-focused initiatives solidify its standing as a cornerstone of Ethiopia's modern banking sector.
