Embassy of India Bids Warm Farewell to Outgoing Ambassador Shri Anil Kumar Rai as Bilateral Ties Deepen

The Embassy of India in Addis Ababa organized a warm farewell ceremony for the Ambassador of India to Ethiopia, H.E. Shri Anil Kumar Rai, and Smt. Harshita Rai, on the occasion of his transfer back to the Ministry of External Affairs Headquarters in New Delhi.

During the event, embassy officials, diplomatic staff, and community members expressed their deep appreciation for Ambassador Rai's exemplary leadership, strategic vision, and dedicated service in advancing the historic partnership between India and Ethiopia.  

​In his farewell remarks, Ambassador Rai conveyed his sincere gratitude to all embassy officers and staff for their unwavering dedication, teamwork, and support throughout his tenure in Addis Ababa.

Reflecting on his diplomatic assignment, the outgoing envoy noted the significant momentum gained across trade, development assistance, and bilateral cooperation.

​The diplomatic farewell comes at a milestone period for India-Ethiopia relations. Bilateral trade between the two nations exceeds $550 million, while over 675 Indian companies have invested more than $6.5 billion in Ethiopia, creating substantial employment opportunities across key industrial sectors.

Recent developments, including visa-exemption agreements for diplomatic passport holders, joint digital technology initiatives, and expanding cooperation under the BRICS framework, underscore the growing depth of the strategic partnership.

Embassy officials extended their warmest wishes to Ambassador Rai and Madam Harshita Rai for his next diplomatic mandate in New Delhi.
